Myoin-ni, The Granny Ninja: Speed, Spirit, and Support

Overview

Myoin-ni, affectionately known by the community as the "Granny Ninja," is a 5-star Nature hero from the Ninja Tower event. Released back in 2023, she brought a unique twist to the Ninja family: a support-focused kit centered on boosted health and massive mana generation buffs. Unlike her assassin brethren who focus on dealing damage, Myoin-ni is the calm center of the storm, speeding up her allies and keeping them alive. While her stats have aged significantly, her utility remains mechanically distinct.

Hero Art & Visuals

Visually, Myoin-ni is a standout character. While her card title claims she is "The Strongest Bannerlord" (a title that suspiciously sounds like it belongs to a male warlord), the artwork depicts a determined, elderly woman wielding a katana with grace and authority. She channels the "stern but loving grandmother who will feed you cookies and then beat you in a sword fight" energy perfectly. It’s a refreshing departure from the usual high-fantasy tropes, proving that age is just a number when you have ninja reflexes.

Hero Stats

Let's address the elephant in the dojo: Myoin-ni's stats are from a different era.

  • Base Power (873): In a world where new heroes debut with 1260+ power, Myoin-ni is significantly behind.
  • Survivability: Her base defense (894) and health (1516) were tank-worthy in 2023, but today they are closer to what we see on Limit Broken 4-star heroes. Even with a second Limit Break, her stats struggle to compete with the raw damage output of modern snipers and AoE hitters.
  • Verdict: She is a "glass support" in the current meta. She relies heavily on her defensive buffs and boosted health to survive, rather than raw stat density.

Special Skill: Resolute Spirit

The Resolute Spirit is a Charge skill, meaning you choose when to fire it based on how much mana she has gained.

  • x1 Charge (5 tiles): This is her bread and butter. For just ~5 tiles, you get a solid health boost (370), a 25% defense buff, and a massive +33% mana generation buff for 2 turns. This is incredibly cheap utility that can jump-start your entire team.
  • x2 Charge (10 tiles): Increases the healing to 530 and extends the buffs to 3 turns with a stronger defense up (40%).
  • x3 Charge (15 tiles): The full package. 600 boost, +65% defense, and 4 turns of mana gen. While powerful, waiting for 15 tiles on a squishy hero is often a death sentence.

Analysis: The magic of Myoin-ni is almost entirely in her x1 Charge. The ability to grant +33% mana generation to all allies at Very Fast speed is a mechanic that ages beautifully, even if her stats don't.

By the Numbers

Mana Speed & The "Magic Breakpoint"

Myoin-ni's greatest asset is her ability to make Slow heroes function like Average or even Fast heroes.

  • Mana Gen Buff: +33% is a massive modifier.
  • The Math: If Myoin-ni fires her x1 Charge, she gives everyone +33% mana gen.
    • A Slow Hero (12 tiles) usually needs a lot of help. With Myoin-ni's buff (+33%) active, plus a standard Level 29 Mana Troop (+15%) and an emblem node (+4%), a Slow hero can charge in 9 tiles effectively.
    • More importantly, she bridges the gap for Average heroes to charge in just 3 ghosted tiles or two matches.

Healing Efficiency

  • x1 Charge: 370 HP / 5 tiles = 74 HP per tile.
  • x3 Charge: 600 HP / 15 tiles = 40 HP per tile.
  • Conclusion: It is mathematically far superior to spam her x1 charge. You get more total healing and maintain the mana buff uptime better by firing early and often.

Family Bonus, Passives, Aether Power & Unique Abilities

Family Bonus

The Ninja family bonus gives a chance to Dodge (5%-10%) and Counterattack. While unreliable, the dodge can be a lifesaver for a hero with outdated defense stats. If you can pair her with another Ninja, that 5% dodge chance might just save her from a sniper shot.

Passives

Note: Older Ninjas like Myoin-ni do not have the modern "start with mana" passives or other complex mechanics found in newer tower heroes.

Aether Power

  • Heal Increase: This passive boosts the healing she receives. This is actually quite good for her because she functions as a tank/flank often targeted by tiles. When she heals the team, she heals herself for significantly more (often +50% or more depending on the level), helping her stay alive despite her lower health pool.

Legacy & Modern Relevance

  • Historical Context: Upon release, Myoin-ni was considered a top-tier "tank" and support because Overheal (Boosted Health) at Ninja speed was revolutionary. She could negate the downside of "Slow" rush teams outside of Rush wars.
  • Power Creep Analysis: Her stats have been completely eclipsed. A modern 4-star toon costume often has comparable survivability to her base form. The "Charge" mechanic has also seen improvements in newer heroes (Magic Tower, Styx) who offer more damage or control.
  • Modern Viability: She is Niche Viable. She is no longer a universal defense hero. However, on Offense, she remains a potent tool for skilled players who understand mana breakpoints. She allows you to bring heavy hitters (like Khufu or Alfrike) into normal raids and actually get them charged.

Emblem Path Analysis

Myoin-ni needs to survive. Her job is to cast buffs, not deal damage.

  • Path: Defense > Health > Attack
  • Pros: Maximizes her outdated stats to keep her alive against modern snipers. Every point of defense counts when you are starting from a deficit.
  • Cons: Low tile damage (irrelevant for her role).

The "Why?" Build

  • Path: Attack > Health > Defense
  • Pros: None.
  • Cons: She dies faster. Do not do this.

Final Recommendation

Go full Defense/Health. She is a Druid, so the emblems also give her a chance to spawn a Thorn Minion, which adds a tiny layer of meat shield (roughly 15% HP) that further aids survival.

Strengths

  • Mana Acceleration: The +33% mana gen buff at x1 charge is one of the best offensive support skills in the game.
  • Boosted Health: Overheal is always relevant. It counters max-health reduction teams and lets you tank hits that would otherwise kill you.
  • Flexibility: Charge speed lets you choose between a quick patch-up or a massive defensive hold (if you can survive that long).
  • Class: Druid minions provide passive survivability.

Weaknesses

  • Paper Stats: Her stats are simply too low for the current Diamond arena meta without heavy protection.
  • AI Inconsistency: On defense, the AI plays Charge heroes poorly, sometimes holding the charge when a heal is needed, or firing x1 when a big defense buff would be better.
  • Dispels: Her buffs are dispellable. A simple dispeller (like costumed Sabina or a Hippo) ruins her setup.

Best Game Modes

  • PvE / Map Stages: Excellent. You can manually control her to keep your team permanently overhealed and mana-boosted.
  • War Offense: Very Good. She enables slow teams. Pair her with slower, devastating heroes to speed them up.
  • Ninja Tower / Magic Tower: Great. Her overheal counters the permanent damage from curses (if you get hit), and mana speed helps race against the clock.
  • Defense: Poor. Too squishy for modern standards.

Advanced Strategy & Team Compositions

The "Mana Battery" Offense

  • Composition: Myoin-ni + Ludwig + 3 Slow Hitters (e.g., Khufu, Alfrike).
  • Strategy: Use Myoin-ni's x1 charge to help Ludwig get his taunt up. Once Ludwig is firing, the mana flows, and Myoin-ni keeps everyone alive with boosted health.

The "Green Wall"

  • Composition: Myoin-ni + Arco + heavy minions.
  • Strategy: Arco provides beefy shields (minions) to protect Myoin-ni's low health. Myoin-ni boosts mana so Arco can fire again. They feed into each other's loops.

Counters & Anti-Synergies

  • Counters: Heroes who block mana (Hel, Proteus) or silence (Miki, Peters) shut her down completely. Dispelllers remove her potent buffs.
  • Anti-Synergy: Grimble or Goretooth (Mana reduction). If she loses mana, she loses her flexibility.

Advice for New Players

If you pulled Myoin-ni early in your E&P journey, you have struck gold. She will carry you through the entire map (Season 1-5) because overheal trivializes map stages. Max her immediately. She will be your main healer for a long time.

Advice for Veterans

She is a "luxury" toy for depth in War. She isn't going to replace your Toon Vivica or Hathor on defense. However, she is still excellent for a 4th or 5th war team where you need to make use of those powerful-but-slow heroes sitting on your bench. Do not use Alpha Aethers (LB2) on her unless you absolutely love her playstyle; those materials are better spent on heroes with modern stats.

Community Corner: Hot Takes & History

  • The Gender Debate: The community had a field day with her title "The Strongest Bannerlord," with players asking, "Grandma? Is that you?" or pointing out the mismatch between the "Lord" title and the visual of an elderly woman.
  • The "OP" Cries: Upon release, players screamed she was OP. "A healer that gives 33% mana gen in 5 tiles? Broken!" fast forward to today, and she's considered balanced, bordering on fragile, showing just how fast the game moves.
  • The Xiamara Counter: Famous war youtubers like Undead Horde have showcased how heroes like Xiamara are the best counter to her, utilizing the board to punish the passive playstyle she encourages.

Final Thoughts

Myoin-ni is a relic of a slightly slower, more tactical time in Empires & Puzzles. She hasn't aged gracefully in the body (stats), but her spirit (skill set) is as sharp as ever. If you can protect her, she will make your Slow heroes feel like Ninjas. If you leave her exposed, she'll crumble like a stale cookie.

Verdict: A fantastic offensive support hero for manual play, but keep her off your defense team if you want to hold cups.

Costume: None (as of this review).
