Quari, The Astral Pilgrim: Growth, Glaciers, and Grit

Overview

Quari is a 5-star Legendary hero from the Astral Dwarfs family, representing the Ice (Blue) element. As a Monk running at Average speed, Quari fits the role of a "bruiser support"—a hero who deals significant damage while simultaneously buffing the team's long-term survivability. Released in late 2024, he introduced the concept of "Growth" (permanent stat increases) to the Astral family, making him a cornerstone for players who prefer winning through attrition and overwhelming power rather than quick, glass-cannon snipes.

Hero Art & Visuals

Quari’s design is distinct, featuring a flowing beard and headpiece that many players have noted draws inspiration from Eastern aesthetic traditions. He looks like a warrior-monk who has traveled the galaxy (or the "Astral Plane") and returned with ancient wisdom—and a very large, glowing weapon. The cool blues and golds of his armor fit the Ice element perfectly, giving him a serene yet imposing presence.

Hero Stats

Quari's stats are well-rounded, ensuring he can perform his hybrid role effectively.

With an Attack of 1223, he hits surprisingly hard for a hero with so much utility. His Health (1969) is nearly 2000 un-emblemed, meaning he can take a hit from the toughest snipers and keep standing. When Limit Broken, his Attack pushes past 1500, scaling his Water damage DoT to terrifying levels.

Special Skill: Fluvial Path

"Fluvial Path" is a multi-layered skill that provides value in three distinct ways:

  1. The Hammer: 450% damage to the target and nearby enemies (Hit 3). This is a massive multiplier for a Hit-3 hero. Total damage output is 1350%. It crushes flanks.
  2. The Sustain: The targets receive 788 Water damage over 4 turns. This DoT scales with his attack and troops. Crucially, 50% of this dealt damage is returned to your team as Boosted Health. If he hits three enemies for ~260 damage each per turn, your team heals for ~390 HP every turn. It turns the enemy's pain into your gain.
  3. The Growth: All allies receive +200 Attack and +200 Defense. This is a "Growth" effect, meaning it modifies the base stats of your heroes. It usually stacks with standard buffs (like a +50% Attack buff) and makes your team permanently stronger for the duration of the battle.

Note: In Beta, this skill was called "Frozen Path" but was renamed to "Fluvial Path" for release.

By the Numbers

  • Damage Potential:
    • Direct: 450% x 3 = 1350% total multiplier.
    • DoT: ~2364 total Water damage (788 x 3) over 4 turns.
    • Combined, Quari can output over 5000+ effective damage from a single cast if the DoT runs its course.
  • Healing Potential:
    • 50% of 2364 DoT = ~1182 Total Healing distributed to the team.
    • This functions as a pseudo-HoT (Heal over Time) that persists as long as the enemies are suffering.
  • Stat Growth:
    • +200 Attack is roughly equivalent to a 15-20% attack buff for an average 5-star hero, but it's permanent and stacks with active buffs. On Titans, this is massive.

Family Bonus, Passives, Aether Power & Unique Abilities

The Astral Dwarf package ensures Quari lands his hits and shrugs off interference.

Family Bonus

The passive dispel chance (20-25%) forces the enemy to play honestly. It’s a nice bonus that can accidentally win you games by stripping a Taunt or Dodge.

Passives

  1. Perfect Accuracy: Quari never misses. This is vital for his role. If he misses, he doesn't apply the Water DoT, which means he doesn't heal. Perfect accuracy guarantees the sustain loop.
  2. Superior Bypass Minions: He hits through minions, ensuring maximum damage on the heroes themselves.
  3. Superior Resist Minion Effects: Immune to the mana cuts and ailments from minion summoners.

Aether Power

Damage Reduction makes him even tankier. Combined with the Defense Growth from his special, Quari becomes exceptionally hard to kill after firing once.

Legacy & Modern Relevance

  • Historical Context: Quari was released alongside Salniss and Maegwyn. While Salniss grabbed headlines for her "gun" and Maegwyn for her tankiness, Quari was the "thinker's hero." Players realized his Growth mechanic was a game-changer for long fights and Titans.
  • Power Creep Analysis: A year later, 450% Hit-3 is still elite. The Water damage mechanic (healing from damage) is rare and valuable. He has not been crept; he has settled into a comfortable niche as a top-tier utility attacker.
  • Modern Viability Verdict: Quari is High Tier. He is a staple in Blue stacks for War attacks and a key component of high-score Titan teams due to the permanent attack boost.

Costume & Costume Bonus

As of late 2025, Quari does not have a costume.

Emblem Path Analysis

Quari is a Monk, which allows him to resist status ailments (Manashield).

  • Path: Attack > Health > Defense
  • Pros: Scales his direct damage (450% is a high multiplier) AND his Water DoT. Since healing is based on damage dealt, more Attack = more Healing.
  • Cons: Slightly less bulk, but his Growth mechanic compensates for this.

Final Recommendation

Go Full Attack. You want that DoT to tick for maximum damage to maximize the team's healing.

Strengths

  • Versatility: He damages, he heals, he buffs. He does it all.
  • Titan Utility: Permanent Attack Growth is a rare and powerful buff for Titan scores.
  • Sustain: The Water damage healing is unique and effective, especially since it bypasses healing reduction ailments (usually, as it's a "steal" mechanic or distinct from direct healing).
  • Accuracy: Never missing ensures reliability.

Weaknesses

  • Cleanse Vulnerability: If the enemy cleanses the Water DoT, your team stops healing. He relies on the enemy staying sick.
  • Average Speed: In a Rush meta, Average can feel slow without mana troops.
  • Dispellers: While Growth is usually permanent, if it's coded as a "stack" or undispellable buff it's safe. (Note: Growth modifies stats, usually safe, but check mechanic specifics). However, the Water DoT is cleansable.

Best Game Modes

  • Titans: S-Tier. Permanent Attack increase + High tile damage + Damage reduction for the team (via Defense Growth).
  • War Attack: A+ Tier. Excellent in a 3-2 stack. He provides the sustain needed to outlast bulky defenses.
  • Towers/Events: A-Tier. Growth persists through waves (in some modes) or helps ramp up power for boss waves.

Advanced Strategy & Team Compositions

Sample Team Ideas

  1. The "Growing" Blue Stack:
    • Composition: Kiril (Costume) - Quari - Frida - Magni (Costume) - Lord Loki.
    • Why: Quari's Attack Growth (+200) stacks with Kiril's Attack Buff (+%) and Frida's Elemental Defense Down. The tile damage becomes absurd.
  2. The Sustain Train:
    • Composition: Maegwyn - Quari - - - .
    • Why: Combining Maegwyn's boosted HoT with Quari's damage-based healing creates a team that recovers thousands of HP per turn.

Counters & Anti-Synergies

  • Counters: Cleansers (Rigard, Vivica) are his main issue. If they wipe the Water DoT, his healing output drops to zero. Toons (passive resist) might resist the DoT application.
  • Anti-Synergy: Fiend Summoners? No, actually they work fine. Mainly just other heroes who rely on the enemy having ailments if you face a heavy cleanser.

Advice for New Players

Quari is a fantastic "anchor" hero. If you are struggling to keep your team alive while dealing damage, he solves both problems. Level him immediately and pair him with a standard healer to become invincible.

Advice for Veterans

You might overlook him for faster heroes, but don't sleep on the Growth. +200 Attack/Defense is like having an extra troop level on everyone. For Mythic Titans or long War fights, that stat differential wins games.

Community Corner: Hot Takes & History

  • The "Oriental" Vibe: Players loved his distinct look, calling him the "Lovechild of Darkfeather and Sparklight."
  • The "Flaky" Debate: Some users found him "flaky" or inconsistent because if the DoT is cleansed, he loses value. Others swore by him as a "Consolation Prize" that turned out to be a main prize.

Final Thoughts

Quari is the Astral Dwarf who decided that the best way to help his friends is to hit his enemies so hard they leak life force. He is a master of attrition, slowly tipping the scales of battle in your favor with every turn that passes. While he lacks the instant "I win" button of some Rush heroes, his "Fluvial Path" is a road that inevitably leads to victory if you can walk it long enough.

Bottom line: Let it flow, let it grow.
