Costume Regin: The Upgrade We Didn't Ask For (But Will Gladly Take)

Overview

Just when you thought the "Dwarven Fabled Prince" was settling in, Small Giant decided he needed a wardrobe change and a massive steroid injection. Costume Regin, the "Dwarven Fallen Prince," takes everything good about the original hero—Fast speed, priority dispel, buff immunity—and cranks the stats and passives up to modern 2025 standards. Released surprisingly close to the base version, this costume transforms a "good" hero into a "great" one, primarily through raw statistical dominance and one crucial Aether Power swap.

Hero Art & Visuals

The costume sees Regin donning a hood and darker, perhaps more "fallen" attire. The vibe shifts from a noble scout to a dark assassin or an omen of doom. The multi-eyed bird remains, watching judgingly as you destroy opponent teams. The art reflects the "Cursed Plan" theme of his skill—darker, grittier, and more serious. It's a solid visual upgrade that matches the menacing increase in his power level.

Hero Stats

Here is where the costume truly flexes. With a base power of 1245 (compared to the original's 1165), Costume Regin sits comfortably at the table with the modern elites. His Limit Broken stats are monstrous: 1576 Attack and 2945 Health. This puts him on par with heroes like the Mahayoddha family or the latest Tower heroes. While the base version was starting to lag, the Costume version is ahead of the curve, boasting durability and attack power that ensures his "Firestorm Strike" hits its damage cap far more often.

Special Skill: Cursed Plan

"Cursed Plan" is mechanically identical to the base version's "Master Plan" in terms of utility, but with higher numbers.

  1. Priority Dispel: Still the best form of dispel. Removes buffs from target and nearby before dealing damage.
  2. Enhanced Damage: The damage cap is raised to 2220 (up from 2000). Combined with his significantly higher attack stat, this means Costume Regin is far more likely to delete enemies than his uncostumed counterpart. The 40% bonus vs Nature remains, making him a dedicated weed whacker for green heroes.
  3. Buff Immunity: Blocks new buffs for 3 turns. Essential for stopping the likes of Hathor or other ailment-immune buffers (if you catch them before they fire).

The skill is simple, fast, and devastatingly effective. It solves problems (buffs) and creates problems (damage + immunity) simultaneously.

By the Numbers

  • Mana Speed: Fast. 7 tiles to charge with a standard level 29 mana troop. This speed is critical for a dispeller.
  • Damage Output: With an attack stat pushing 1600+ when limit broken, Regin C easily threatens the 2220 damage cap against casters or lower defense supports. The "Never Miss" clause guarantees that damage isn't wasted on a dodge.
  • Effective Health: With nearly 3000 HP and 1500 Def (LB2), he is incredibly tanky for a Rogue, allowing him to survive long enough to fire multiple times.

Family Bonus, Passives, Aether Power & Unique Abilities

The costume significantly buffs the passives, making Regin C not just a hitter, but a resource generator.

Family Bonus

The Nidavellir bonus applies here as well, standard fare for the family.

Passives

This is a major upgrade point:

  1. Empowered Resist Burn: The base version ignored damage and gained 450 HP / 5% Mana. The Costume gains 600 HP and 10% Mana. That 10% mana chunk is huge. If he resists a burn tick or application, it can instantly charge him if he's close to full. It turns burn heroes into mana batteries for Regin.
  2. Molten Core: The Corrosive Burn damage is higher (376 vs 319) and the defense down is slightly stronger (-13% vs -12%). It’s just more free damage and utility for doing what you were going to do anyway (firing the special).

Aether Power

Ailment Immunity: This is the game-changer. The base version had Counterattack. The costume has Ailment Immunity for the first 6 turns. This guarantees he won't be silenced, mana-slowed, or blinded (not that he cares about blind) in the opening rush. It makes him an incredibly reliable opener on offense or defense.

Legacy & Modern Relevance

Costume Regin represents the rapid pace of power creep. Released to keep the hero relevant against the tidal wave of high-stat heroes in late 2024/2025, he succeeds wildy.

  • Modern Viability: High. He is a premium fast dispeller/hitter. In a meta where buffs are powerful (Constructs, Opera, etc.), a fast priority dispeller with stats this high is invaluable. He is not just "viable"; he is a top-tier choice for competitive play.

Costume & Costume Bonus

Comparing the two is almost unfair.

  • Base vs. Costume: The Costume wins on stats, damage potential, passive generation (double the mana gain on resist!), and Aether power.
  • Costume Bonus: The bonus gives stats to the base version, but unless you desperately need the Counterattack aether power (you don't), you will never switch back to the base form. The costume is the hero now.

Emblem Path Analysis

Rogue class. Dodge is annoying. Dodge is good.

The Aggressor (Attack Path)

  • Path: Attack > Defense > Health
  • Pros: Maximizes the damage of "Firestorm Strike." His base stats are already tanky enough to survive; you want him to kill.
  • Cons: Slightly less durability.

Final Recommendation

Attack Path. With the Ailment Immunity Aether Power, he is protected from status effects early on. You want his special skill to hit as hard as possible to capitalize on the dispel.

Strengths

  • Stat Monster: Keeps up with the latest power creep.
  • Ailment Immunity: 6 turns of freedom from status effects.
  • Mana Generation: +10% mana when resisting burn is a fantastic accelerator.
  • Reliability: Fast speed + Never Miss + Priority Dispel = Consistency.

Weaknesses

  • Hit-3 Limitation: In a world of "Hit All" monsters, hitting 3 can sometimes feel limited, though it focuses the damage better.
  • Passive Dependency: The mana gain passive relies on the enemy using burn. If they don't, it's a dead passive (though the immunity to burn is still nice).

Best Game Modes

  • War Defense: Flank position. He punishes green stacks and dispels buffs before your tank or wings fire.
  • Raids: Essential against buff-heavy teams.
  • Rush Attack: Even at Very Fast, his utility is top-notch.

Advanced Strategy & Team Compositions

Costume Regin is a flexible damage dealer who supports the team by removing obstacles.

Sample Team Ideas

  1. The "No Buffs For You" Team:
    • Composition: Costume Regin - Lemonwood - Tinsel
    • Why: A barrage of fast damage and control. Regin clears buffs, Lemonwood punishes mana, Tinsel defense downs.
  2. The Burn Punisher:
    • Composition: Costume Regin vs. Teams with Goretooth/Gestalt
    • Why: Bring him into teams you know will burn you. He will feed on the burns to fire repeatedly.

Counters & Anti-Synergies

  • Counters: Heroes who resist dispel (though they are rare).
  • Synergy: Pairs beautifully with defense down heroes (like Costume Marjana) who fire after he strips the enemy's defense buffs.

Advice for New Players

If you have this costume, you have one of the best Red utility hitters in the game. Max him immediately. He will be a staple in your roster for a long time.

Advice for Veterans

This is a hero worth the Alpha Aethers. The Ailment Immunity combined with his speed makes him a reliable cog in any war machine. He replaces older red dispellers like regular fast snipers or slower hit-alls.

Community Corner: Hot Takes & History

The community was baffled by the release timing but impressed by the power.

  • "The stats are just insane... Do we really need these two heroes right now?" - A sentiment shared by many who felt the power creep was accelerating too fast.
  • "Aether Power appears to be changed again... Aether Power is changed from Dodge to Regen... now Counterattack." (Referring to base/beta changes, but the Costume landing on Ailment Immunity was the winning ticket).
  • "I’m surely it’s me… I’m just not getting the rhyme or reason" regarding the mix of Season 3 and Untold Tales, but players quickly accepted the raw power Regin C brought to the table.

Final Thoughts

Costume Regin is a powerhouse. He takes a solid base kit and upgrades it in every meaningful way. The shift to Ailment Immunity and the massive stat bump secure his place in the meta for the foreseeable future. He might be a "Fallen Prince" in lore, but in gameplay, he has ascended to the throne.

Verdict: A top-tier Fire hero. If you have him, use him.
