Doxan: Dual Laser Blades vs. The Green Menace

Overview

Doxan arrived in March 2023 as part of the Super Elemental family, bringing a sci-fi aesthetic and a very specific grudge against Nature heroes. As a Fast mana Fire Sniper, his role is simple: delete a single target and inadvertently roast any green bystanders. While his kit was respectable upon release, he now sits in the shadow of the massive power creep that has defined 2024 and 2025. This review focuses on his base form—the original laser-wielding warrior—while acknowledging that a flashy new costume (released in late 2025) now exists to give him a much-needed stat injection.

Hero Art & Visuals

Doxan sports a futuristic, cyberpunk-gladiator look that stands out amongst the usual high-fantasy knights and wizards. Wielding dual energy blades that look suspiciously like lightsabers, he brings a "techno-rogue" vibe to the battlefield. The red energy accents and the confident "I'm about to slice you" stance are great. Compared to his costume, which leans heavily into a "hacker" visual with data streams, the base version feels more visceral and combat-focused. He looks like he does his own stunts.

General Info

Hero data missing

Hero Stats

Stat Analysis: Here is where we have to be brutally honest. Doxan's base stats are significantly outdated. With a base attack of 887 and power of 905, he is leagues behind modern heroes who frequently debut with 1300+ attack and 1260+ power. Even fully Limit Broken (LB2), his attack reaches 1094, which is barely competitive with modern 4-star heroes. In a meta dominated by stat monsters, base Doxan is incredibly fragile and lacks the punching power to threaten modern tanks without significant help or high emblem investment.

Special Skill: Dual Laser Blades

Skill Analysis: "Dual Laser Blades" is a conditional skill that ranges from "decent sniper" to "team wiper" depending entirely on the enemy composition.

  • The Snipe: 500% damage to a single target at Fast speed is the baseline. In 2023, this was solid. In 2025, with his low base attack, 500% often fails to one-shot threats, especially those with overheal or high defense.
  • The Anti-Nature Kicker: The skill shines when facing Nature enemies. The burn damage (992 over 4 turns) is substantial—roughly 248 per turn. If you hit a Nature hero, or if there are other Nature heroes on the field, they all get burned and take minor initial damage.
  • The Problem: The conditionality is his downfall. Against a defense with no Nature heroes, he is just a vanilla sniper with subpar stats. Against a heavy Nature team, he can still be disruptive, but his low survivability means he might die before firing.

By the Numbers

Let's crunch the data to see what those lasers really do.

  • Mana Speed: Fast. With his Super Elemental family bonus (gems) and passive mana generation buffs from troops (if applicable), he charges in 7 tiles reliably, sometimes 6 with the right setup (20% mana node + bard/costume bonus + 29 mana troop).
  • Damage Potential:
    • Base Snipe: 500% x 887 Attack (unboosted) = ~4,435 raw damage value.
    • Burn Damage: 992 total / 4 turns = 248 damage per turn. This is fixed DoT, which is actually a point in his favor as it bypasses defense stats.
  • Comparison: Modern snipers like Turundh (Astral Elf) deal 525% damage off a base attack of 1320. That's a raw value of ~6,930. Doxan is dealing roughly 64% of the damage of a modern sniper before we even factor in defense disparities.

Family Bonus, Passives, Aether Power & Unique Abilities

The Super Elemental family brings some unique flavor, mostly centered around gem manipulation and elemental mastery.

Family Bonus

Analysis: The Power Gem mechanic is fun but unreliable. Spawning a gem that deals 20 damage is negligible in modern play. However, it does add a small layer of passive damage. The more impactful part is the resistance/damage modification against elements, which reinforces his niche.

Passives

Analysis:

  • Troop Mastery: This is excellent. Dealing +100% extra damage with troops against Nature enemies means his tile damage against Green tanks is devastating. Conversely, taking -10% damage from Ice troops helps his survivability slightly, though not enough to save him from a blue sniper.

Aether Power

Analysis: Attack Up is a simple, effective boost. For a sniper whose main issue is low stats, a raw attack boost is exactly what he needs to stay relevant. It helps his special skill hit closer to modern standards for the first few turns.

Legacy & Modern Relevance

  • Historical Context: Upon release, Doxan was a "nice to have" but rarely a "must-have." He was compared to D'Artagnan and seen as a solid red sniper who excelled against green-heavy teams.
  • Power Creep: The creep has been unkind. His damage output has fallen from "lethal" to "tickle" against modern defensive stats.
  • Modern Viability Verdict: Base Doxan is Niche. He is viable in War Attacks against Nature tanks or green-heavy formations, and potentially in Buff Booster tournaments where his speed helps. He is effectively obsolete in top-tier play without his costume.

Costume & Costume Bonus

This review focuses on the base hero, but the existence of his costume is the elephant in the room.

  • Base vs. Costume: The Costume (Hacker) provides a massive stat jump (from 887 to 1239 Attack) and improves the skill to 550% damage and significantly higher burn damage (1504 vs 992).
  • Class Swap: Base Doxan is a Fighter, which gives him the chance to Revive. This is arguably better than the Costume's Rogue class for a glass cannon, as reviving with 1 HP allows him to fire one last desperate shot.
  • Verdict: The Costume is superior in almost every metric due to stats. However, if you only have the base version, the Fighter talent is your one saving grace.

Emblem Path Analysis

If you are using Base Doxan, you are likely using him for offense to kill things before they kill him.

The Glass Cannon (Full Attack)

  • Path: Attack > Defense > Health
  • Pros: Maximizes his 500% snipe and tile damage (crucial for his passive).
  • Cons: He remains extremely squishy.
  • Recommendation: Take every Attack node.

The Survivalist (Defense/Health)

  • Path: Defense > Health > Attack
  • Pros: Keeps him alive long enough to potentially fire twice or revive.
  • Cons: His damage becomes negligible against modern defenses.

Final Recommendation

The Glass Cannon. If you aren't bringing him to kill, you shouldn't bring him at all. Go full Attack.

Strengths

  • Anti-Nature Specialist: Devastating tile damage against Green titans and tanks due to passive.
  • Fighter Class: The revive talent can steal wins.
  • Fast Speed: Reliable operational speed.
  • AoE Burn: Punishes green-heavy teams even if he targets a non-green hero.

Weaknesses

  • Outdated Stats: Severely lacks bulk and punching power by 2025 standards.
  • Conditional Impact: Mediocre against non-Nature teams.
  • Low Survivability: Dies to a stiff breeze or a stray slash from a modern hero.

Best Game Modes

  • Mythic Titan: Excellent for tile damage against Green Mythic Titans.
  • War Attack: Specifically for "Clean-up" teams or mono-red stacks attacking Green tanks.
  • Tournament: Rush Attack (Very Fast speed makes him annoying) or Bloody Battle (Fighter revive is valuable).

Advanced Strategy & Team Compositions

Use him as a surgical tool, not a generalist.

Sample Team Ideas

  • The Green Eater: Guardian Kong (C) - Doxan - Phenexa.
    • Why: Phenexa resets buff durations and boosts damage, Kong cleanses and reflects. Doxan provides the fast snipe.
  • The Burn Ward: Emilio - Doxan - Gestalt.
    • Why: Stack burn damage. Doxan's burn is potent against greens, Emilio keeps the team safe.

Counters & Anti-Synergies

  • Cleanse: Heroes who cleanse (e.g., Ariel, Vivica) remove his burn, negating half his damage output.
  • Ailment Immunity: Heroes like Hathor or Aramis prevent his burn entirely.
  • Blue Snipers: Any modern blue sniper will one-shot him.

Advice for New Players

If you pulled Doxan early, he is a fantastic sniper. His fast speed makes him forgiving, and he will carry you through map stages (especially Season 1 and 2 where Nature enemies are common). Level him, but be wary of spending Alpha Aethers on him unless you have his costume.

Advice for Veterans

Base Doxan is a benchwarmer unless you are facing a specific Green Mythic Titan or need a 6th war team against a nature heavy defense. If you don't have the costume, he is likely not worth the Limit Break mats compared to newer 4-stars.

Community Corner: Hot Takes & History

  • "Am I the only one who likes this guy? I feel this guy is kind of like a better D’art in a way." - A hopeful player in 2023.
  • "If you can find and play against a mono green def then yes… In any other case absolutely not." - The realist perspective.
  • "He hits HARD. He pairs well with the Hippo on a rainbow team." - Early adopter praise.

Final Thoughts

Doxan is a relic of a simpler time when hitting for 500% was considered "hitting like a truck." Today, he hits more like a delivery van—annoying, but survivable. His base form is saved only by his Fighter class and specific anti-Nature niche. If you have him, cherish the Revives, but pray for the Costume.

Verdict: A niche anti-green specialist whose license to kill has expired. Use with caution.
