Ferant: The Mana-Vampire of the Wolf Family
Overview
Ferant is an Epic (4-star) Fire hero from the Clash of Knights Alliance Quest. Originally released in late 2021, he quickly established himself as one of the most annoying tanks in the game's history, transcending his 4-star rarity to plague even 5-star wars. While he has received a costume (reviewed separately), this guide focuses on his base form, the original "Feral Revenge" machine. He is a classic example of a hero whose mechanicsβspecifically mana controlβkept him relevant long after his stats started to age.

Hero Art & Visuals
Ferant sports a wild, battle-hardened look, complete with war paint and wolf-themed armor that looks like it's seen more battles than a Season 1 hero has seen feeders. The red war paint and the giant sword scream "I'm going to hurt you if you touch me," which is fitting for a counterattacker. Itβs a gritty, aggressive design that perfectly communicates his "hit me and regret it" playstyle.

Looking at Ferant's stats in the context of early 2026 is a bit of a rollercoaster.
- Attack (635): By modern standards, this is abysmal. New 4-star heroes like Hotspin (Construct family) are boasting 800+ attack. However, Ferant doesn't rely on direct damage, so this is forgivable.
- Defense (595): This is dangerously low. He is squishy on paper, which makes keeping him alive to fire his skill a challenge against modern snipers.
- Health (1474): This is where Ferant still shines. Even years later, 1474 HP is elite for a 4-star hero. It actually beats some modern 4-stars (Hotspin has 1445). This massive health pool is the only reason his low defense is manageable, acting as a sponge for his counterattack.
Special Skill: Feral Revenge

Feral Revenge
- The caster and nearby allies counterattack with 115% of the damage received for 5 turns.
- The caster and nearby allies decrease -10% mana from the attacker on each counterattack for 5 turns. The effect gets diminished for consecutive activations during the same turn.
Analysis: "Feral Revenge" is a deceptively simple skill that does two things very well:
- Counterattack (115%): The damage reflection is solid, but 115% is on the lower end compared to pure riposte heroes like Cyprian or Boril (who go much higher). However, the duration is 5 turns, which is excellent.
- Mana Cut (-10%): This is the crown jewel. Every time Ferant or his nearby allies are hit, the attacker loses 10% mana. This applies to Special Skills AND Tile damage. If an enemy AoE hits all three counterattacking targets, they could lose a significant chunk of mana.
- Note: The effect diminishes on consecutive hits in the same turn, preventing infinite mana locks, but it is still incredibly disruptive.
This mana cut forces the enemy to stop playing the game. They can't dump tiles into him to charge up because they lose mana. They can't use AoE skills carelessly because they lose mana. It creates a "damned if you do, damned if you don't" scenario.
By the Numbers
- Mana Speed: Average. With his Druid emblem node (+4%) and a Level 17 Mana Troop (or equivalent combination), he can reach 9 tiles.
- Mana Cut Potential: -10% per hit. If an enemy fires a "Hit-3" special at Ferant and his neighbors:
- Hit 1: -10% Mana
- Hit 2: Diminished Mana Cut (approx -8% or similar, exact degradation formula is hidden)
- Hit 3: Diminished further.
- Result: The enemy likely finishes their turn with less mana than they started, even after gaining mana from the attack.
Family Bonus, Passives, Aether Power & Unique Abilities
Family Bonus

Alliance - Wolves
- Bonus for 1/2/3 Heroes:
- 20%/35%/50% chance to make a cast buff undispellable.
- The members of this family have additional perks in the Clash of Knights event.
The Wolf Family bonus is fantastic for a buffer. It gives a chance (35%/50%) to make buffs undispellable. This covers his Counterattack buff. If this triggers, your opponent cannot dispel the riposte with a Sonya or Caedmon, forcing them to wait out the 5 turns or suicide their heroes.
Passives
Base Ferant has no innate passives (unlike his costume or newer heroes). This is a mark of his age.
Aether Power

Regen
At the start of each battle, this Hero regenerates 420 health over 6 turns.
Regen is a solid choice for him. Since he wants to take hits to trigger mana cuts, any form of passive healing helps sustain his massive HP pool against his low defense.
Legacy & Modern Relevance
- Historical Context: Upon release, Ferant was a menace. He was widely considered a "pseudo-5-star." He was so oppressive that he received a balance update (nerf) to rein in his mana cutting capabilities. He defined the 4-star Bloody Battle meta for a long time.
- Power Creep Analysis: His stats (Power 680) are now significantly behind the curve (Modern 4*s are ~800). His lack of passives hurts him. However, his Mana Cut on Counterattack mechanic remains unique and potent. Very few heroes punish being hit by draining the attacker's resources.
- Modern Viability Verdict: Viable. He is no longer a top-tier war tank for high-level players, but he remains a staple in 4-Star Tournaments (especially Bloody Battle and Buff Booster) and serves as a critical tool for F2P/C2P players to control mana-heavy bosses or difficult stages.
Costume & Costume Bonus
Comparison to Costumed Version: The Costumed Ferant (released Dec 2024) drastically changes his stat profile and skill.
- Stats: The Costume gives a massive stat boost (Power 719 vs 680) and shifts him to Fighter class.
- Skill Change: The Costume increases counterattack damage to 120% but reduces the mana cut to -5%.
- Verdict: Base Ferant is arguably better for control. The drop from -10% to -5% mana cut is significant. While the Costume survives better, the Base version's -10% cut is far more punishing. Ideally, you want to level the Costume for the stat bonus but equip the Base skin for the superior mana control.
Emblem Path Analysis
The Survivalist (Recommended)
- Path: Health > Defense > Attack
- Pros: Maximizes his 1474 HP and patches his low defense. He needs to survive to reflect damage.
- Cons: Lower counterattack damage (since riposte is based on damage received, higher defense means slightly less reflected damage, but dead heroes reflect zero damage).
The Punisher
- Path: Health > Attack > Defense
- Pros: Keeps defense low to maximize "damage received" and thus "damage reflected."
- Cons: Extremely risky in the current meta of high-damage snipers. He might die before doing his job.
Final Recommendation
For most players, the Survivalist (Health/Def) path is the only viable option in 2026. Modern heroes hit too hard; you cannot afford to leave his defense at 595.
Strengths
- Exceptional Mana Control: Reduces enemy mana simply by existing and taking hits.
- High Base Health: Competitive HP pool even years after release.
- Undispellable Potential: Wolf family bonus can make his buffs permanent for 5 turns.
- Passive Killer: Destroys enemies who rely on multi-hit or AoE attacks.
Weaknesses
- Paper Defense: Base defense is very low, making him vulnerable to one-shots.
- Passive-Less: Lacks modern passives (like starting mana or ailment resistance).
- Dependent on Enemy Action: If the enemy ignores him (or uses dispels before hitting), he does nothing.
Best Game Modes
- Raid Tournaments (4-Star): Specifically Bloody Battle (where he can't be healed but has high HP) and Buff Booster.
- PvE / Map Stages: excellent for controlling boss mana.
- Rush Attack: At Very Fast speed, his 5-turn counterattack is nearly permanent.
Advanced Strategy & Team Compositions
Sample Team Ideas
- The "Undispellable" Wolf Pack:
- Team: Ferant - Wolfgang - Ludwig
- Why: Stacking Wolf family members increases the chance of the "Undispellable" buff. Ludwig forces enemies to hit him (and Ferant if nearby), triggering mana cuts constantly.
- 4-Star Bloody Battle Defense:
- Team: Azmia - Ferant - Kalo
- Why: Double counterattack (Blue/Red coverage) makes it hard for enemies to find a safe tile dump. Ferant cuts mana, Azmia heals (passive), Kalo cleans up.
Counters & Anti-Synergies
- Counters: Sonya/Caedmon (Dispellers) are his worst nightmare unless the Wolf bonus triggers. Hypnos or other Buff Blockers prevent him from casting his riposte.
- Anti-Synergy: Defense Buffers (like Kiril or Vivica) reduce the damage Ferant takes, which reduces the damage he reflects. However, they keep him alive, so it's a trade-off.
Advice for New Players
Ferant is a game-changer for new rosters. Prioritize his Health in emblems. Use him as your "Tank" (center hero) in 4-star tournaments to punish opponents. Even without the costume, he is worth Limit Breaking (LB1) to fix his defense.
Advice for Veterans
You likely have him benched for 5-star wars, but do not strip his emblems. He remains a top 5 hero for 4-Star Tournaments. If you have the Costume, level it immediately for the bonuses, but keep using the Base Skin. The -10% mana cut is far more valuable than the slight damage increase on the costume.
Community Corner: Hot Takes & History
- "Heβs the only 4-star I fear more than most 5-stars." - A common sentiment during his peak.
- Nerf History: Players originally debated if he was "broken" or just "strong." The consensus shifted to "broken" when he started appearing in top 100 alliance war defenses. The nerf reduced his mana cut effectiveness on consecutive hits, but he survived it.
- "Why is this guy a Druid?" - Many players lamented his class, as Minions (from Druid talent) absorb damage, preventing the Counterattack from dealing full damage back.
Final Thoughts
Ferant is the definition of "punching up." He doesn't need high stats to be effective; he just needs the enemy to be foolish enough to hit him. While his base stats are showing their wrinkles in 2026, his kit remains one of the best mana-control tools in the 4-star rarity.
Verdict: A mandatory hero for tournaments. Level the costume for stats, play the base for the bite.
