Livia, The Moonlit Ward: Reflecting Bad Vibes & Soaking Up Damage
Overview
Livia is a 5-star Legendary Holy hero from the Owl Tower event, originally released in early 2024. As a member of the parliament (that's a group of owls, we checked), she functions primarily as a defensive support hero. Unlike her avian colleagues who focus on crushing damage based on defense stats, Livia is here to keep your team alive and turn your opponent's nasty tricks against them. Sheβs a Paladin, which fits her role perfectlyβsheβs there to shield, heal, and annoy the enemy team into submission.

Hero Art & Visuals
Livia is depicted as a majestic barn owl priestess, draped in white and gold vestments that scream "I am holier than thou." She holds a posture of serene authority, and unlike some of the more monstrous or abstract designs in the Owl Tower (looking at you, Ommodus), Livia looks like she could actually run a respectable temple. The art is crisp, detailed, and thankfully lacks the "I just woke up and chose violence" energy of her darker kin. Itβs elegant, dignified, and probably the reason the other owls behave themselves at dinner.

Hero Stats
Base Stats (No Emblems)
| Level | Attack | Defense | Health | πͺPower |
|---|---|---|---|---|
4/80 | 970 | 1081 | 2004 | 1047 |
4/85lb1 | 1045 | 1165 | 2160 | 1119 |
4/90lb2 | 1196 | 1333 | 2471 | 1262 |
When we look at Livia's stats in the harsh light of the 2026 meta, the feathers start to ruffle a bit.
- Attack: 970 (Base) is significantly lower than modern attackers who push 1300+.
- Defense: 1081 (Base) is respectable but trails behind the 1300+ standard of new tanks.
- Health: 2004 (Base) is her strongest suit, but modern heroes are easily breaking 2200 base HP.
While her Limit Broken (LB2) stats bring her up to par with the base stats of modern heroes, she is undeniably behind the power creep curve. She relies heavily on her damage reduction mechanics to compensate for raw stat deficiencies.
Special Skill: Rites of Inner Knowledge

Rites of Inner Knowledge
- Lifts all cleansable status ailments from the caster and nearby allies and randomly distributes them on enemies.
- The caster and nearby allies get Moonrise Ward for 4 turns, that reduces incoming Special Skill damage by -1320. Reduces damage by additional 30% when attacker is of the Holy element.
- The caster and nearby allies regenerate 1800 HP over 4 turns.
- The caster and nearby allies reflect status ailments and negative stacks for 4 turns. (Status effects cast by characters, Minions and Fiends on the same side cannot be reflected.)
Livia's special is a Swiss Army knife of defensive utility, but it comes with a "Terms and Conditions" label: it only affects the Caster and Nearby Allies.
- The "Lady Loki" Shuffle: First, she lifts all cleansable ailments from her trio and randomizes them onto enemies. This is fantastic against heavy DOT (Damage over Time) or defense-down teams. It turns a liability into a weapon.
- Moonrise Ward: This is her signature move. A flat damage reduction of -1320 against Special Skills is massive. For many older or multi-hit heroes, this effectively reduces their damage to double digits. Even against modern nukes, it takes a significant bite out of the impact. The extra protection against Holy is a nice, if situational, bonus.
- Massive Regen: 1800 HP over 4 turns is 450 HP per turn. That is a substantial heal, often ticking for more than typical burst healers provided they stay alive to enjoy it.
- The "No U" Shield: Reflecting status ailments and stacks is incredibly powerful in today's game where every new hero applies three different debuffs.
The Catch: Itβs all dispellable (unless you have protection), and it leaves the wings of your formation vulnerable.
By the Numbers
Let's break down the math behind the feathers.
- Mana Speed: Average.
- Tiles to charge: 10.
- With Level 23 Mana Troop (+11%): 9 tiles.
- With Owl Family Bonus (varies): Can gain significant mana jumps if hit with mana ailments.
- Healing Output:
- Total: 1800 HP per hero.
- Per Turn: 450 HP.
- Total Potential Healing (3 heroes): 5,400 HP. This is numerically one of the highest potential heals in the game, provided the duration isn't cut short.
- Damage Mitigation:
- The -1320 reduction is a flat value.
- If an enemy hits for 1500 damage -> Livia takes ~180 damage.
- If an enemy hits for 1000 damage -> Livia takes minimal/1 damage.
- Note: The reduction scales based on the Def/Attack disparity, so against a monster 1600 Attack hero hitting a 1100 Defense Livia, the reduction might not reach the full cap, but it remains significant.
Family Bonus, Passives, Aether Power & Unique Abilities
The Owl family is built to punish mana control and survive the long game.
Family Bonus

Tower - Owls
- Bonus for 1/2/3 Unique Heroes:
- All received mana status ailments will be replaced by a +11% / +31% / +39% mana generation buff for 3 turns.
This is a hard counter to heroes like Hel, Proteus, or the Waterpipe minions. Instead of losing mana or being stopped, Livia gains a mana generation buff. It turns one of the most frustrating mechanics in the game into a fuel source.
Passives
Passive Skills
Hinder ManaReduces the amount of mana increased by Special Skill, Passive Skills, family bonuses and status effects by -80%. The effect applies to all enemies in the battle.
Reduce Mana Gain from Special Skills (-80%): This is a subtle but game-changing passive. It prevents enemies from chaining specials effectively. If an enemy hits Livia with a skill that usually grants them mana (like some hit-and-charge heroes), they get almost nothing.
Aether Power

Regen
At the start of each battle, this Hero regenerates 420 health over 6 turns.
Regen: At LB2, she starts the battle with a regeneration buff. This helps her survive the opening turns before she can fire her special, mitigating early slash attacks or fast snipers.
Legacy & Modern Relevance
- Historical Context: Upon release, Livia was seen as a solid, if slightly niche, support. The "Hit-3" limitation held her back from being a premier defense hero compared to full-team healers, but her Ward was acknowledged as a potent survival tool.
- Power Creep Analysis: Her stats have aged like milk in the sun. She is squishy by modern standards. However, mechanics age better than stats. Ailment reflection and flat damage reduction are timeless utilities.
- Modern Viability Verdict: Niche / Offensive Specialist. She is risky on defense because smart players can dispel her or snipe the wings she doesn't protect. On Offense, she is a fantastic counter to ailment-heavy teams (like those with Cubes, Goblins, or heavy DOTs). If you can fire her before the enemy, you shut down their debuffs completely.
Costume & Costume Bonus
As of this review, Livia does not possess a costume. This section will be updated if the Owl Tower decides to give her a wardrobe change.
Emblem Path Analysis
Livia is a Paladin, which means she needs survivability to ensure she fires her Average speed skill.
The Iron Feather (Defensive)
- Path: Defense > Health > Attack
- Pros: Maximizes her survival. The Paladin class talent (Defense up on damage) synergizes with high defense stats. Higher defense also helps the scaling of her Moonrise Ward.
- Cons: Her tile damage will be negligible.
- Recommendation: This is the only path that makes sense. She is a support hero; her job is to live.
Final Recommendation
For virtually all players, the Defense > Health path is the way to go. Keep her alive so she can keep you alive.
Strengths
- Ailment Reversal: Cleansing and redistributing ailments is a powerful swing mechanic.
- Massive Mitigation: The Moonrise Ward shuts down multi-hitters and lighter AOE hitters completely.
- Proactive Protection: Reflecting new ailments for 4 turns forces enemies to hold their specials or commit suicide.
- Family Bonus: inherent immunity/benefit against mana control ailments.
Weaknesses
- Hit-3 Limitation: Leaving the wings exposed is a fatal flaw in today's AOE-heavy meta.
- Dispellable: All her buffs (Ward, Regen, Reflect) can be wiped away by a dispeller, leaving her vulnerable.
- Average Speed: In a Rush/Fast meta, Average speed can sometimes be too slow without mana troops or support.
- Outdated Stats: She needs Limit Breaking and Emblems just to survive a modern sniper hit.
Best Game Modes
- Alliance Wars (Attack): Excellent for dissecting specific defense formations, especially those relying on ailments.
- Rush Attack Tournaments: At Very Fast speed, her Ward and Reflect are oppressive.
- Map/Quest Stages: The high regen and damage reduction make her great for keeping a team alive through long waves of bosses.
Advanced Strategy & Team Compositions
Livia shines when she can protect high-value targets. Since she covers herself and neighbors, she effectively protects the "core" of your formation.
Sample Team Ideas
- The "Untouchable" Center: Livia Flank + Taunt Hero (Tank) + Livia Flank. (Okay, you probably don't have two Livias).
- The Reflector Screen: Livia + Counterattacker (like Cyprian or Azmia). You reflect ailments and damage.
- The Cleanse & Sustain: Pair her with a Dodger (like Kadilen C) on the wing. Livia protects the center with Ward/Reflect, Kadilen protects the whole team with Dodge.
Counters & Anti-Synergies
- Counters: Hypnos, Domitia (C), Erlang Shenβanyone who dispels buffs first or blocks buffs. Timius is a direct counter from her own family event, as his priority dispel strips her naked before hitting.
- Anti-Synergies: Do not pair her with another hero who overwrites her buffs. For example, a healer who gives a weaker regen will overwrite her massive 1800 HP regen.
Advice for New Players
If you pulled Livia early, she is a blessing. Her regen alone will carry you through Season 2, 3, and 4 Hard modes. Focus on keeping her alive with troops. She will be your safety net against difficult bosses.
Advice for Veterans
Livia is a situational tool. She isn't a "set and forget" defense hero. Use her in War Attack teams specifically to counter ailment-heavy defenses. Is she worth Alpha Aethers? Probably not, unless you lack modern 5-star healers. Her stats are too low to justify the expense over a shiny new Goblin or Construct.
Community Corner: Hot Takes & History
The community reaction to Livia was... mixed.
- One user on the forum lamented, "Is she good? I got her on a single pull... I donβt think so cuz everything is easily dispelled and only 3 heroes."
- Others saw her potential but hated the limitation: "Ya they need to make these buffs hit all players; modern day Furdinand upgrade. Come on Devs..."
- A common sentiment regarding her stats vs skill: "Agree, even now they are increasing her stats, but the special remains the same. WTF!!!"
- On the flip side, some players found her annoying to face: "With my alliance members we have faced her many times in war, and we just avoid her now since we find her very annoying to go against."
It seems the consensus is that she is a "balanced" hero in a game that rewards "broken" ones.
Final Thoughts
Livia is the responsible designated driver of the Owl family. While Lodius and Ommodus are out there causing chaos and destruction, Livia is making sure everyone gets home safe (and healed). She is a mechanically sound hero let down by the rapid inflation of stats. If you can keep her alive, she will frustrate your enemies to no end with her reflections and wards.
Verdict: A solid B-tier hero in the current era, rising to A-tier in the hands of a thoughtful player facing an ailment-heavy team.
