Cel: The Unmovable Golem Queen
Overview
Cel, the Masked Goddess of Earth, arrived in July 2023 as part of the Carnival of Gods (Masquerade) family. She is a Slow 5-star Ice summoner designed to turn your team into a fortress of rock and stone. Her gimmick is simple but potent: massive minions that grant "Stoneskin," reducing damage to a single digit. While she was once a formidable tank, the years haven't been kind to her speed or her stats.

Hero Art & Visuals
Celβs design is a striking blend of elegance and brutalism. She wears a golden mask and holds a lantern that looks like it contains the souls of players who forgot to bring a minion dispeller. The giant floating stone head next to her (presumably the Golem source) gives off major "judging your board manipulation skills" vibes. It is a fantastic piece of art that perfectly captures the "Masquerade" themeβbeautiful but unsettling.

Hero Stats
Base Stats (No Emblems)
| Level | Attack | Defense | Health | πͺPower |
|---|---|---|---|---|
4/80 | 875 | 906 | 1775 | 933 |
4/85lb1 | 943 | 976 | 1913 | 996 |
4/90lb2 | 1079 | 1117 | 2189 | 1121 |
Stat Analysis: Here is the hard truth: Cel's stats are showing their age. With a base Power of 933, she is significantly behind modern heroes who regularly push past 1260 Power. Her defensive stats (906 Defense / 1775 Health) were top-tier in 2023 but are now merely "average" compared to the 1300+ Defense and 2400+ Health titans released in late 2025. This stat gap means her minions, which scale off her HP, are not as terrifyingly beefy as they once were unless heavily invested with Alpha Aethers and high-level troops.
Special Skill: Summon Rock Golems

Summon Rock Golems
- Summon a Rock Golem Minion for each ally with 40% HP and 50% attack inherited from the caster.
- The Rock Golem Minion gives its owner Golem's Stoneskin when summoned, and again every 3 turns. This effect can't be dispelled.
- Golem's Stoneskin drops all damage dealt to the owner to 1, but is removed after 1 hit.
Analysis: The "Summon Rock Golems" skill is the definition of a "high risk, high reward" Slow skill.
- The Meat Shield: 40% HP for a minion is massive. Even with her older stats, these minions can soak up 700-900 damage easily.
- The Stoneskin Mechanic: The real star is the Golem's Stoneskin. Reducing all damage to 1 is incredible, effectively negating one hit from a sniper or a slash attack.
- The Refresh: The Stoneskin refreshes every 3 turns as long as the minion is alive. This forces the opponent to either kill the minion quickly or waste special skills just to peel off the protection.
- The Flaw: It is removed after 1 hit. A single tile, a stray minion tap, or a DoT tick (if applied before) can strip this powerful buff, leaving your team vulnerable again.
By the Numbers
Let's look at the math behind the Golems:
- Minion Health: With max emblems and Limit Break 2 (approx. 2200 HP), her minions have ~880 HP. A full team of 5 minions adds 4,400 effective HP to your side. That is effectively a second health bar for your team.
- Stoneskin Value: If the Stoneskin blocks a sniper hit (e.g., 1500 damage becomes 1), the "healing" value is infinite. However, if it blocks a 50-damage tile, the value is negligible.
- Mana Speed: As a Slow hero, she needs 12 tiles to charge. With a Level 29 Magic Troop or Styx Troop, you can shave this down, but she will practically never be "Fast."
Family Bonus, Passives, Aether Power & Unique Abilities
The Masquerade family offers some interesting utility, though it requires specific team compositions to fully shine.
Family Bonus

Challenge - Masquerade
- Masquerade characters summon a Mask Minion for themselves at the start of the battle. THe more Masquerade characters there are in the same team, the better the Mask Minion is:
- 1 family member: This character summons a Mask Minion with 8% health and 8% attack inherited from the character.
- Additional skill with 2 family members: Mask Minion gives its owner +7% attack while the owner has a Mask Minion. This effect can't be dispelled.
- Additional skill with 3 family members: Mask Minion gives its owner immunity to all status ailments while the owner has a Mask Minion. This effect can't be dispelled.
Analysis: The Mask family bonus summons a Mask Minion at the start of battle.
- 1 Hero: Tiny minion (8% HP). Negligible impact.
- 2 Heroes: Minion gives +7% Attack. Useful for titans.
- 3 Heroes: Minion gives Ailment Immunity. This is the jackpot. If you can pair Cel with two other Masquerade heroes (like Jove or Aradia), your team starts with immunity to status ailments. Given Cel's slow speed, this early protection can be crucial to keeping her alive until she fires.
Passives
Passive Skills
Cleanse on Minion DeathThis character is cleansed of status ailments when Minion owned by them is destroyed.
Resist Defense AilmentsThis character is immune to status ailments that affect defense. Applies also to status ailments that affect elemental defense.
Analysis:
- Resist Defense Ailments: This is excellent for a tank. She cannot be defense-downed by the likes of Morel or Tiburtus, making her much harder to kill with tile damage.
- Cleanse on Minion Death: A niche but helpful passive. If an enemy destroys her minion, she cleanses herself. It adds a layer of annoyance for the attacker.
Aether Power

Regen
At the start of each battle, this Hero regenerates 420 health over 6 turns.
Analysis:Regen is a solid choice for a defensive anchor. Since she is Slow, keeping her health topped up while she gathers mana is vital. It synergizes well with her high health pool.
Legacy & Modern Relevance
- Historical Context: Upon release, Cel was a frustrating tank to face. Her minions were nearly unkillable for rosters lacking specific counters, and the Stoneskin made sniping her team a nightmare.
- Power Creep Analysis: The game has evolved towards "Fast" and "Very Fast" dominance. Minion counters (Grimble, Ogima, and newer heroes like Hotspin) are everywhere. Furthermore, the sheer damage output of modern heroes means her minions, while beefy, can be wiped out much faster than before.
- Modern Viability Verdict: Niche. Cel is no longer a top-tier war tank. She is too slow and has too many hard counters. However, she remains a queen of Rush Attack wars and tournaments. In PvE (Map Stages, Towers), she is essentially a "Win Button"βonce you get her minions up, your team becomes almost immortal against mob waves.
Emblem Path Analysis
Cel is a Druid, which leads to a funny anti-synergy: the Druid talent spawns a weak Thorn Minion (4% HP) that can sometimes overwrite her powerful Rock Golem (40% HP) if you aren't careful. However, you still want the stats.
The Iron Wall (Recommended)
- Path: Defense > Health > Attack
- Pros: Maximizes her survivability and the HP of her minions (since they inherit 40% of her max HP).
- Cons: Low attack stat means her tile damage is negligible.
The Balanced Brawler
- Path: Health > Attack > Defense
- Pros: Increases minion attack (50% inheritance) slightly.
- Cons: Sacrifices the tankiness she desperately needs to survive until she fires.
Final Recommendation
For most players, the Iron Wall (Defense/Health) path is the only logical choice. Her job is to survive and cast; her damage comes from keeping your team alive, not hitting hard herself.
Strengths
- Massive Minions: 40% HP minions are still among the thickest in the game.
- Stoneskin: The ability to negate massive hits is unique and powerful if timed right.
- Rush Attack Dominance: At Very Fast speed, she becomes a nightmare to deal with.
- PvE God: Makes map stages and towers a breeze by providing a constantly refreshing shield.
Weaknesses
- Slow Speed: In a fast meta, she often dies before firing.
- Hard Counters: Grimble, Ogima, Eloise, and Luna make her a liability, turning her minions into mana or damage for the enemy.
- Stoneskin Fragility: The protection is removed by literally anything that deals damage, including a 1-damage tile or a stray minion hit.
- Druid Class Anti-Synergy: Thorn minions are trash compared to Golems.
Best Game Modes
- Rush Attack Wars/Tournaments: Her S-tier playground.
- PvE (Towers/Events): Excellent for survivability in long stages.
- Map Stages: Auto-play safety net.
Advanced Strategy & Team Compositions
Since she is slow, she needs support to survive or speed up.
Sample Team Ideas
- The "Never Die" Rush Defense:
- Ludwig - Cel - Alfrike: Ludwig forces mana onto Cel and Alfrike. If Cel fires, Ludwig becomes nearly invincible with Stoneskin + Taunt.
- The Minion Overlord:
- Freya/Bera - Cel - Pengi: Pair her with faster minion summoners to protect her while she charges. Once she fires, Pengi goes nuclear with the extra minions.
Counters & Anti-Synergies
- Grimble: The classic counter. He eats her minions and gives mana to his whole team, usually leading to a wipe.
- Ogima/Hotspin/Sizzleomatic: Destroy minions before hitting, rendering her protection useless.
- Lunar Heroes (Xiaotu/Luna): Their passives or skills disable minion effects or punish summoners heavily.
Advice for New Players
If you pulled Cel early, congratulations! You just unlocked "Easy Mode" for the map seasons. Focus on keeping her alive with healers. Do not worry about her slow speed in map stages; use mana potions if needed. She will carry you through hard bosses.
Advice for Veterans
She is a luxury hero for Rush Wars. Unless you lack a strong Rush tank, she is likely not worth the Alpha Aethers compared to modern stats monsters. If you do use her, ensure she is flanked by heroes that punish the enemy for trying to dispel or kill minions.
Community Corner: Hot Takes & History
The community has always had a love-hate relationship with Cel.
- The Druid Problem: Players were baffled by her class. One user noted, "Not one paid employee thought she should be of any class other than DRUID is mind blowing. Thatβs the one class that actually works against her special skill."
- The "Unfinished" Hero: Many felt she needed "one more skill" to justify the Slow speed. "She is unfinished... giving her an extra skill of healing... or mana gain to allies" was a common suggestion.
- The Rush Beast: despite the complaints, everyone agrees she is a monster in Rush. "Use cel + waterpipe in rush & win."
Final Thoughts
Cel is a relic of a time when "Slow" meant "Game Ending." In today's hyper-fast meta, she is often too slow to make an impact before the battle is decided. However, she remains an absolute unit in PvE and Rush modes. She is a specialized tool, not a Swiss Army knife. If you need a wall, she is your girl. Just don't expect her to win a foot race.
Costume Note: Cel does not currently have a costume, which puts her at a disadvantage against heroes who can flex updated stats and bonuses.
Verdict: Level her for Rush and Towers, but keep her on the bench for standard Raids.
