Mica: The Ninja of Silent Screams - Support, Survival, and Speed
Overview
Mica is the "pacifist" of the Ninja family. While his brethren Cobalt, Onyx, and Jade are busy slicing through enemies or dodging attacks, Mica stands firm, connecting his allies' souls and accelerating their potential. Released back in late 2020 as part of the Ninja Tower event, he introduced a pure support kit in a family known for aggression.
He is a Holy (Yellow) 5-star hero with the Charge mana speed mechanic, meaning he can fire at 1x, 2x, or 3x mana. Unlike most heroes who want to kill you, Mica wants to make sure his friends kill you fasterβand stay alive while doing it.

Hero Art & Visuals
Micaβs design is a striking mix of traditional shinobi garb and radiant holy energy. Clad in golden-yellow armor with a masked face, he exudes a sense of disciplined mystery. He dual-wields kamas (sickles), yet his special skill is entirely non-offensive, which is a hilarious ironyβheβs dressed to kill but prepared to hug (spiritually, via soul connection).

Hero Stats
Base Stats (No Emblems)
| Level | Attack | Defense | Health | πͺPower |
|---|---|---|---|---|
4/80 | 716 | 821 | 1380 | 798 |
4/85lb1 | 772 | 885 | 1487 | 851 |
4/90lb2 | 883 | 1013 | 1701 | 955 |
Stat Analysis: Letβs be realβMica is showing his age. With a base power of 798 and stats like 716 Attack and 821 Defense, he is significantly behind modern heroes who regularly push 1300+ Power and 1600+ stats. Even with Limit Breaks (LB2), his stats (883/1013/1701) are barely catching up to the base stats of 2024/2025 heroes.
However, Mica is a Paladin, which is his saving grace. The Paladin class talent gives him a chance to boost his defense further when attacked, helping him survive just long enough to fire that critical first charge. He is not a tank by modern standards; he is a utility support who needs protection to do his job.
Special Skill: Connect Ki

Connect Ki
- 1x Mana Charge
- * All allies become Soul Connected for 2 turns. Soul Connected allies share received damage.
- * All allies get +25% defense for 2 turns
- * All allies get +24% mana generation for 2 turns
- 2x Mana Charge
- * All allies become Soul Connected for 4 turns. Soul Connected allies share received damage.
- * All allies get +50% defense for 4 turns
- * All allies get +33% mana generation for 4 turns
- 3x Mana Charge
- * All allies become Soul Connected for 5 turns. Soul Connected allies share received damage.
- * All allies get +73% defense for 5 turns
- * All allies get +38% mana generation for 5 turns
Skill Analysis: Micaβs "Connect Ki" is a Swiss Army knife of survival and speed. The flexibility of the Charge mechanic allows you to adapt to the flow of the battle:
- 1x Charge (5 tiles): This is his bread and butter. A +24% mana generation buff combined with damage share and defense up is incredible for 5 tiles. It can jump-start your slower heroes.
- 2x Charge (10 tiles): A solid middle ground. 4 turns of coverage feels significantly safer than 2, and the defense buff jumps to a respectable +50%.
- 3x Charge (15 tiles): If you manage to hold out this long, +73% Defense and +38% Mana Gen makes your team nearly invincible and hyper-fast.
The Spirit Link (Damage Share) is a double-edged sword. It prevents one-shots from snipers (great!) but means AoE attacks hit everyone for "averaged" damage (sometimes dangerous if your team is low).
By the Numbers
The Mana Math
The real value of Mica lies in his mana generation buff. Let's break down why that +24% (1st Charge) is a big deal.
- Average Speed (10 tiles): Normally requires a Level 23 Mana Troop (+13%) to drop to 9 tiles. With Mica's +24% active, even a basic mana troop drops an Average hero to 8 tiles.
- Slow Speed (12 tiles): Normally requires massive investment to speed up. With Mica's +24%, a Slow hero can charge in 10 tiles (functional Average speed) with very little other help.
Survival Calculations
At 3x Charge, the +73% Defense is massive. Combined with Damage Share, an incoming sniper hit that would normally deal 1500 damage to one target might be reduced to ~800 total damage spread across 5 heroes (160 each). This turns lethal strikes into tickle damage.
Family Bonus, Passives, Aether Power & Unique Abilities
Family Bonus

Tower - Ninjas
- Bonus for 1/2/3 Unique Heroes:
- 5%/10%/15% chance to dodge normal attacks and Special Skills
- 5%/10%/15% chance to counterattack with 60%/90%/120% of the damage received.
The Ninja family bonus is excellent. Dodge is one of the best mechanics in the game for survival, and the Counterattack adds passive damage. Since Mica doesn't hit, this family bonus is his only way of dealing damage on his own (via counterattack).
Aether Power

Special Armor
At the start of each battle, this Hero gets 40% defense against Special Skills for 6 turns.
Special Armor fits him perfectly. Since his stats are outdated, reducing special skill damage received helps ensure he lives long enough to cast his buffs.
Legacy & Modern Relevance
Historical Context
When released, Mica was often considered the "runt" of the Ninja litter compared to the destructive power of Cobalt and Onyx. However, high-level players quickly realized his potential in "Mana Engine" teams, pairing him with Xnolphod or Ludwig to create infinite loops of special skills.
Power Creep Analysis
Stats-wise, Mica has been crushed by power creep. A modern 3-star hero almost rivals his base durability. However, Mana Generation is a mechanic that never ages. A +24% mana boost is just as valuable today as it was in 2020βperhaps even more so, as it helps you fire your modern nukes before the enemy fires theirs.
Modern Viability Verdict
Niche but Viable. Mica is no longer a defense team candidate (too squishy, AI plays him poorly). However, on Offense, specifically in manual raids or wars, he is a tactical nuke of utility. If you can protect him for 5 tiles, he accelerates your entire team. He is a "Win More" heroβif you get his engine running, you dominate. If he dies early, he does nothing.
Emblem Path Analysis
The Iron Wall (Recommended)
- Path: Defense > Health > Attack
- Pros: Maximizes his outdated defense stat. Every point of survivability is crucial to ensure he fires at least once.
- Cons: His tile damage will be negligible.
- Why: Mica has no offensive skill. Attack stats only help his tile damage (and counterattack from family bonus). You need him alive.
Final Recommendation
Go Full Defense/Health. Ignore attack nodes unless they are unavoidable.
Strengths
- Mana Acceleration: One of the few heroes who can significantly boost team mana speed for a very low tile cost (5 tiles).
- Flexibility: Can be used as a quick pick-me-up (1x) or a massive fortress (3x) depending on the board.
- Sniper Mitigation: Damage share completely neutralizes single-target nukers.
- Synergy: Pairs incredibly well with other Ninjas and Slow heroes.
Weaknesses
- Outdated Stats: Extremely fragile by modern standards. Needs Limit Breaking and Emblems to survive even basic attacks.
- Dispellable Buffs: All his effects (Def Up, Mana Gen, Share Damage) can be dispelled. A single dispeller ruins his day.
- Passive Playstyle: He doesn't help you kill things directly. If your hitters are dead, Mica just prolongs your inevitable defeat.
- AI Incompetence: The AI is notoriously bad at managing Charge heroes, often firing at 1x when 2x would be better, or holding for 3x and dying.
Best Game Modes
- Rush Attack: Paradoxically good. While everyone is Very Fast, his buffs make your team faster than Very Fast and significantly tankier.
- Map/Quest Stages: Excellent for hard PvE stages (like Towers). You can charge him to 3x before a boss wave to make your team unkillable.
- Titan Battles: Decent for survival against high-star Titans, and the mana gen helps keep elemental defense down active, though he occupies a slot that could be used for a damage booster.
- Offensive Raids: As a support for a 3-2 or 4-1 stack, helping your slow heavy hitters fire early.
Advanced Strategy & Team Compositions
Sample Team Ideas
- The Mana Engine: Mica - Xnolphod/Ludwig - Slow Nuke - Slow Nuke - Healer. Mica speeds everyone up, the mana battery (Xnol/Ludwig) fills them, and the nukes wipe the board.
- The Ninja Squad: Mica - Cobalt - Onyx - Garnet - Any. Activating the 3-hero family bonus gives massive Dodge/Counter chances. Mica keeps the glass cannons (Cobalt/Onyx) alive until they charge.
Counters & Anti-Synergies
- Counters: Dispellers (Sabina, Melendor, and modern equivalents like Hippo or bubbles) wipe his buffs instantly. Buff Blockers prevent him from doing anything.
- Anti-Synergy: Taunt Heroes. While not terrible, Damage Share overrides the Taunt mechanic's damage redirection in some interactions, or makes the Taunt hero take less damage (which is good) but spreads it to the squishy backline (which might be bad).
Advice for New Players
If you pulled Mica early, congratulations! He will carry you through map stages. Use him to keep your under-leveled team alive. Focus on firing his 2x charge for a good balance of protection and uptime.
Advice for Veterans
Mica is a luxury tool. Do not prioritize him over modern meta heroes. However, if you have him leveled, he is a fantastic "Plan B" for War attacks when you need to use your slower, B-tier heroes. Pairing him with a slow hit-all hero can make that team viable against meta defenses. Do not use Alpha Aethers on him unless you are a die-hard Ninja fan; the stats return isn't worth it compared to a modern carry.
Community Corner: Hot Takes & History
- βI use Mica in my mono holy team... His main job is to save your team against special skill attacks... I do not think that he needs any buff, just needs to give him a chance.β
- βMica is not a hero for defense. Mica shines on quickly keeping your team alive, and increasing their mana speed.β
- Many players initially struggled to find a use for him, calling him the "weakest Ninja," but those who mastered the mana breakpoints swear by his offensive utility.
Final Thoughts
Mica is the ultimate "enabler." He doesn't win the game himself; he creates the conditions for your other heroes to win. While his stats are a relic of the past, his Connect Ki skill remains one of the most versatile support abilities in Empires & Puzzles. He turns your team into a well-oiled, damage-sharing, mana-generating machine.
Verdict: A valuable offensive tool for veteran rosters, but keep him away from your defense team.
Costume Note: Mica currently does not have a costume, but if one is released, expect it to heavily modernize his statsβwhich is frankly all he needs to become top-tier again.
