Costumed Louhi: The "Mistress of the North" Returns with a Vengeance
Overview
Costumed Louhi, known as the Mistress of the North, is the upgraded version of the Kalevala classic. Released alongside the 2025 Kalevala event, this costume breathes new life into the hero. Thanks to a significant June 2025 balance update that buffed her base stats and the costume's multipliers, she has vaulted from "outdated" to "highly competitive." She retains her signature priority dispel but now packs the stats to survive and the damage to sting.

Hero Art & Visuals
The "Mistress of the North" costume gives Louhi a glow-upβor perhaps a "glow-down" into something more menacing. Gone are the drab rags; she now sports vibrant purple plumage and a more regal, terrifying presence. The art screams "Dark Sorceress" rather than "Swamp Witch." Itβs a fantastic reimagining that keeps her monstrous features but adds a layer of dark majesty.

Hero Stats
Base Stats (No Emblems)
| Level | Attack | Defense | Health | πͺPower |
|---|---|---|---|---|
4/80 | 1186 | 1236 | 2391 | 1220 |
4/85lb1 | 1279 | 1332 | 2577 | 1306 |
4/90lb2 | 1463 | 1524 | 2948 | 1476 |
This is the most important section for this review. Following the June 2025 balance update, Costumed Louhi boasts a Power of 1220, with Attack around 1185, Defense 1235, and Health 2390. These numbers are fully modern.
- Old Louhi: ~937 Power.
- New Costumed Louhi: ~1220 Power. This massive jump allows her to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with recent Tower and Event heroes. She isn't just a utility support anymore; she has the bulk to tank hits and the attack stat to contribute meaningful tile damage.
Special Skill: Raging Tempest

Raging Tempest
- Dispels buffs from all enemies.
- Deals 280% damage to all enemies.
- All enemies get -30% defense for 4 turns. Against Holy characters, this status effect becomes uncleansable and lasts 2 turns longer.
Raging Tempest is a strictly better version of her original skill.
- Dispels buffs from all enemies. (Priority Dispel)
- Deals 280% damage to all enemies. (Up from 250%)
- -30% Defense for 4 turns. (Up from -24%)
The increase to 280% damage combined with her much higher attack stat means she actually hurts now. The defense down bump to -30% pushes her closer to dedicated defense droppers like Morel or Frigg. The Priority Dispel remains her crown jewelβstripping Taunt (like Phorcys or Ludwig) before hitting and applying defense down is a mechanic that never goes out of style.
By the Numbers
- Mana Speed Analysis: Average. She needs 9 tiles with a standard mana troop (level 23) or less with a Bard/Mana bonus. This allows her to sync perfectly with other Average speed crushers.
- Damage Calculation: With ~1185 Attack (before troops), a 280% hit deals roughly 3318 raw damage. Against a 1400 Def target, this will land for significantly more than her base version, likely in the 450-600 range per target depending on troops. It's solid "softening" damage.
- Key Passives Impact: Power of Sisu (15% Heal/Mana on low health) essentially gives her a "cheat death" mechanic. If she survives with 1 HP, she bounces back, often gaining enough mana to fire immediately.
Family Bonus, Passives, Aether Power & Unique Abilities
Family Bonus

Monthly Event - Kalevala
- Bonus for 1/2/3 Unique Heroes:
- Receive -10%/-25%/-40% less damage from the Special Skills of the stronger element.
- The members of this family have additional perks in the Kalevala event.
The Kalevala bonus provides damage reduction from Holy sources. This makes Costumed Louhi an absolute tank against yellow stacks.
Passives
Passive Skills
Power of SisuWhen this character starts a turn with low health for the first time during a battle, they recover 15% health and receive 15% mana.
The Power of Sisu is one of the best "survival" passives in the game. It doesn't just heal; the 15% mana gain can be the difference between losing a match and firing a game-winning dispel.
Aether Power

Rage
At the start of each battle, this Hero gets 15% attack, and a further 1% increase every time they are hit during 6 turns, up to 25% attack.
Rage gives her a chance to deal extra damage on special skills. While nice, for a dispeller, we typically prefer defensive powers. However, since her stats are so high now, she can afford to be a bit more aggressive.
Legacy & Modern Relevance
- Historical Context: Louhi was always "good but stats were low." The costume and the 2025 update fixed her only real weakness.
- Power Creep Analysis: With 1220 Power, she is right in the mix with current heroes. She outstats almost all "Classic" costumes and competes with recent Construct/Astral heroes in terms of raw numbers.
- Modern Viability Verdict: High Viability. She is a premier purple option for wars and raids. The combination of modern stats + Priority Dispel + Defense Down is rare and valuable. She counters the heavy-buff meta (Taunt, Dodge, Growth) exceptionally well.
Costume & Costume Bonus
- The Comparison: The costume is superior in every way.
- Class: Swaps Monk for Sorcerer. Monk (resist ailments) is arguably better for a cleanser/dispeller, but Sorcerer (delay mana) can be annoying on defense.
- Stats: Massive upgrade.
- Skill: Higher damage, stronger debuff.
- Conclusion: Only use the base version if you desperately need the Monk class to resist ailments (e.g., against heavy water/dot teams). Otherwise, the Costume is the default.
Emblem Path Analysis
With her modernized stats, you have more freedom.
The Balanced Brawler (Recommended)
- Path: Shield > Health > Attack
- Pros: Maximizes her survival. Since she is a Sorcerer, her "Delay" talent triggers on tile damage, so keeping her alive to ghost tiles is valuable.
- Cons: Sacrifices some of her newfound damage potential.
The Glass Cannon
- Path: Attack > Shield > Health
- Pros: Leans into her improved 280% hit and high attack stat. Makes her a genuine threat on defense.
- Cons: Still Average speed; might die before firing if focused.
Final Recommendation
Go Defense/Health. Her primary job is to remove buffs and apply defense down. If she dies early, you lose your tactical advantage.
Strengths
- Priority Dispel: The best kind of dispel. Removes Taunt, Riposte, and Defense Up before they can mitigate her impact.
- Modern Stats: Finally has the bulk to survive in 2026.
- Versatile Debuff: -30% defense down is significant and enables the rest of your team.
- Clutch Passive: Sisu passive can turn a loss into a win.
Weaknesses
- Average Speed: Fast speed is preferred for dispellers, but her bulk compensates.
- Sorcerer Class: Monk (Base) was arguably better for ensuring she could fire.
- Damage Cap: 280% is good, but she won't wipe teams on her own like some 2026 nukers.
Best Game Modes
- War Defense: A solid flank or even tank thanks to her stats and passive.
- Raids: Excellent counter to Ludwig, Miriam & Midnight, and other buffers.
- Titans: -30% defense down and high tile damage make her a staple for Purple titan teams.
Advanced Strategy & Team Compositions
Costumed Louhi is the perfect "setup" hero.
Sample Team Ideas
- The Purple Wrecking Ball: C. Louhi -> G. Panther (Costume) -> Aramis. Louhi dispels and lowers defense, Panther lowers Elemental Defense, Aramis nukes what's left.
- The Anti-Taunt: Bring her against Phorcys or Ludwig. Hold her special until they fire. She completely neutralizes their 6-tile setup.
Counters & Anti-Synergies
- Mana Cut: Heroes like Xnolphod (if on defense) or Roughian can stop her from firing.
- Dodge: While she dispels buffs, Dodge is a status effect. If she misses, she dispels nothing. (Wait, Priority Dispel usually removes Dodge if it hits, but if she misses due to Blind/Dodge, it fails. Actually, dispel can be dodged if it's part of the special).
Advice for New Players
This is a jackpot pull. A hero with modern stats who handles the most annoying mechanics in the game (Buffs) is a cornerstone for any roster. Max her immediately.
Advice for Veterans
You might have benched base Louhi long ago. Dust her off. The costume makes her relevant again. She replaces heroes like Costume Domitia or Seshat in many lineups purely due to the stat difference and the AoE nature of her defense down.
Community Corner: Hot Takes & History
- "Priority dispell is one of the best secondary special skills in the game... Extremely useful against taunters." - The community has always valued this mechanic.
- "Pretty big stat bomb of a hero happy she landed early out of the gate." - Players noticing the massive stat jump in the 2025 update.
- "Why her costumed variant has much higher stats than Costumed Kullervo?... June 2025 balance update." - The community was surprised by the targeted buff she received compared to her peers.
Final Thoughts
Costumed Louhi is the definition of a "redemption arc." From a dusty shelf-warmer to a stat-monster with a premium skill set, she is back in the meta. Priority Dispel is a mechanic that never ages, and now that she has the body of a 2026 hero to go with her 2022 brain, she is a force to be reckoned with.
Verdict: Viable / Top-Tier Utility
