What Are Magic Troops in Empires & Puzzles?
Magic troops (officially named "Wizard troops") are special Epic (4★) tower troops introduced with the Tower of Magic event in Version 46 (March 2022). Their defining characteristic is the highest mana generation boost in the game — reaching an incredible +20% at max level 30. No other troop type comes close to this mana acceleration.
Magic troops boost attack, defense, health, and mana generation. Their mana growth pattern uses +3% increments instead of the standard +2%, meaning they reach key mana breakpoints at different levels compared to regular mana troops. This makes them the absolute best troop choice for heroes where maximizing mana speed is the priority.
A magic troop combined with a costume bonus (+5%) and a mana node on the talent grid (+2% to +4%) can dramatically shift hero performance. For example, an Average-speed hero with a max magic troop can charge in just 8 tiles instead of the normal 10 — effectively making them behave like a Fast hero.
Magic Troop Mana Breakpoints
Magic troops gain +3% mana per breakpoint level instead of the standard +2%. This makes their breakpoints slightly different from regular mana troops:

The +20% maximum mana bonus is truly game-changing. Combined with other mana boosters (costume +5%, talent grid +2-4%, link bonuses), magic troops allow some heroes to charge in dramatically fewer tiles than their base mana speed would suggest.
How to Get Magic Troops
Magic troops are only available during Tower of Magic events. The event runs approximately once a month in rotation with Ninja Tower and Tower of Styx. During the event, the Tower Troop Summon portal offers a 5% chance for magic troops, alongside the standard 10% for regular epic troops.
Like all tower troops, magic troops cannot be obtained from Hero Academy or any other source. Saving your Epic Troop Tokens (ETTs) for tower events is strongly recommended, as you get the bonus 5% tower troop chance at no extra cost.
