Leonie: The Purr-sistent Plague of the Jungle
Overview
Leonie arrived with the Empires & Puzzles 8th Birthday celebration, introducing the Wild Cat family to the game. As a Fast speed Nature Rogue, she is designed to be a thorn in the side of minion-heavy teams and a persistent nuisance that simply refuses to stay dead. While she lacks the raw, screen-clearing power of some modern nukers, her unique mechanics allow her to outlast opponents in a battle of attrition.
She is essentially a "harasser" archetypeβfast enough to fire often, annoying enough to disrupt synergy with defense downs and bleeds, and incredibly difficult to remove permanently thanks to her family bonus and passive.

Hero Art & Visuals
Leonie features a striking, feral design that leans heavily into the "Wild Cat" theme. She is an anthropomorphic lioness warrior, decked out in tribal jungle gear with lethal claw weapons. The art style is vibrant, capturing a sense of agility and predatory danger. Compared to the more mystical or armored designs of recent sets (like Astral Elves or Constructs), she feels grounded and physical.

Hero Stats
Base Stats (No Emblems)
| Level | Attack | Defense | Health | πͺPower |
|---|---|---|---|---|
4/80 | 1351 | 1143 | 2119 | 1214 |
4/85lb1 | 1456 | 1232 | 2284 | 1299 |
4/90lb2 | 1666 | 1409 | 2613 | 1468 |
Leonie's stat distribution is heavily skewed towards Attack (1351), which is exceptional and still competitive with heroes released nearly a year later. However, her Defense (1143) and Health (2119) are beginning to show their age compared to the latest 1260+ Power creep monsters, who often sport 1300+ Defense and 2300+ Health.
She is a classic "glass cannon" build. In the current meta, she can be fragile if caught without her dodge or revive active. You will need to rely on her Rogue talent and passives to keep her in the fight, as she won't soak up much direct punishment.
Special Skill: Claws of the Lioness

Claws of the Lioness
- Deals 250% Clawing damage to the target and nearby enemies. (Deals 400% damage against enemies with any defensive buffs, Minions or Mega Minions. Enemies with any defensive buffs, Minions or Mega Minions receive -35% defense for 6 turns.)
- The target and nearby enemies receive lasting 1500 Surge Bleed damage over 6 turns. (If the target already has this effect, the duration will be refreshed and the damage will be increased by 300. Max total damage 3000.)
Analysis: Leonie's special is a multi-layered tool that requires understanding to maximize.
- The Hit: At 250%, the base hit is underwhelming for a modern 5-star, even at Fast speed. It won't one-shot healthy heroes. However, the conditional boost to 400% against enemies with Minions or Mega Minions (plus a -35% defense down) makes her a hard counter to summoners.
- The Bleed: The Surge Bleed is her real damage source. Dealing 1500 damage over 6 turns averages to 250 per turn. This ignores defense, which is crucial against high-defense tanks.
- The Refresh: If she fires again within 6 turns (very likely at Fast speed), the bleed refreshes and increases by 300 total damage. This "ramping" mechanic forces the opponent to cleanse or eventually melt.
By the Numbers
- Mana Speed: Fast. She requires 8 tiles to charge (7 with mana troops/bonuses), allowing her to cycle her special frequently.
- Base Damage Estimate: 1351 Attack Γ 250% = 3,377 raw damage potential (before defense mitigation).
- Boosted Damage Estimate: 1351 Attack Γ 400% = 5,404 raw damage potential vs. Minion owners. This is a massive jump, turning a scratch into a fatal wound.
- DoT Analysis:
- Cast 1: 250 damage/turn for 6 turns.
- Cast 2 (Refresh): (1500 + 300) / 6 = 300 damage/turn.
- Max Stack: 3000 / 6 = 500 damage/turn. This is extremely dangerous if left uncleansed.
- Nine Lives Value: Reviving with 80% Mana means she only needs ~2 tiles (or a turn of passive gain) to fire immediately upon waking up. This creates immense pressure on the attacker.
Family Bonus, Passives, Aether Power & Unique Abilities
The Wild Cat family and Leonie's passives are arguably more impactful than her active skill.
Family Bonus

Wilderness Summon - Wildcats
- Bonus for 1/2/3 Unique Heroes:
- 5%/10%/15% chance to dodge Special Skills.
- Each Special Skill dodged damages the attacker for 100/200/300 damage.
The Dodge chance (up to 15% for 3 heroes) is a nice survival layer, but even as a solo hero (5%), it adds a layer of RNG that can ruin an attacker's day, especially combined with her Rogue class dodge.
Passives
Passive Skills
Nine Lives- When defeated this character has 80% chance to revive at the begining of their next turn with 50% health and 80% mana.
- Activates up to 9 times. Chance to revive is reduced on each activation. Can't be prevented with status ailments on Passive Skills.
- TraitLithe Frame
- This character is not affected by effects that increase or reduce defense.
- This includes
- - Status effect buffs and ailments.
- - Positive and negative stacks.
- - Growth and Wither effects.
Nine Lives: This is the headline feature. An 80% chance to revive is statistically absurd. While the chance decreases with each use, the fact that she comes back with 50% Health and 80% Mana is terrifying. She often wakes up, slashes your team, applies bleed, and dies again, only to repeat the cycle. It cannot be blocked, making her immune to anti-revive tech like Kravekrush.
Lithe Frame: She is immune to Defense modifications.
- Pros: She ignores Defense Down (Ramming Pulverizer, etc.) and Wither. She is consistently sturdy.
- Cons: She cannot benefit from Defense Up (Magni, etc.) or Growth. This limits her synergy with defense-boosting tanks.
Aether Power

Special Boost
At the start of each battle, this Hero's Special Skill deals an additional 30% damage for 6 turns.
Special Boost fits her perfectly. Since her base damage is on the lower side, the extra kick helps her hit closer to a true sniper level, especially on that first fast charge.
Legacy & Modern Relevance
- Historical Context: Upon release in March 2025, Leonie was a topic of heated debate. Her damage was seen as "meh," but her revive was considered broken. She quickly found a home on War Defense teams designed to time-out opponents.
- Power Creep Analysis: As we head into 2026, her stats are no longer elite. Hit-3 heroes now regularly deal 350-400% unconditional damage. However, no other hero revives as reliably or with as much resources (HP/Mana) as she does.
- Modern Viability Verdict: Viable. She is no longer a top-tier nuker, but she remains a top-tier pest. In Bloody Battle tournaments or Rush wars, her revive mechanic can single-handedly win games by exhausting the enemy. She is less effective in standard raiding where newer, harder-hitting heroes end fights before her bleed can ramp up.
Emblem Path Analysis
Leonie is a Rogue, which gives her a chance to Dodge direct damage. This synergy with her Family Bonus is excellent.
The Survivor (Recommended)
- Path: Defense > Health > Attack
- Pros: Maximizes the value of her "Nine Lives." Every time she revives with 50% HP, that HP pool is larger. The longer she lives, the more bleeds she stacks.
- Cons: Her direct hit remains soft against non-minion enemies.
The Hunter
- Path: Attack > Defense > Health
- Pros: Pushes her Attack stat to modern levels (~1450+), making her hit sting significantly more and maximizing the bleed damage (if it scaled, but Surge Bleed is fixed). Correction: Surge Bleed is fixed damage, so Attack path only buffs the direct hit.
- Cons: She dies faster, potentially reducing the number of revive loops.
Final Recommendation
For most players, the Survivor (Defense/Health) path is recommended. Her primary role is to stay on the board, apply pressure via DoT, and waste the opponent's flags with her revive loops.
Strengths
- Immortality: The 80% revive chance with high Mana is the best revive mechanic in the game.
- Minion Counter: Punishes minion metas (Waterpipe, etc.) severely with massive damage boosts.
- Shield Bypass: Her DoT ignores high defense and defensive buffs.
- Consistency: Immune to Defense Down means she never gets "softened up" for a kill shot.
Weaknesses
- Low Base Damage: Without minions to target, 250% is weak for a 5-star.
- Cleanse Vulnerable: Her damage relies heavily on the Surge Bleed, which can be cleansed.
- Stat Age: Lower defense makes her prone to being one-shot by modern snipers, forcing reliance on the revive RNG.
- Passive Reliance: If the 80% roll fails on the first death, she offers very little value.
Best Game Modes
- Bloody Battle: A monster. She revives, you can't heal. Her bleed ticks down your health while you struggle to keep her dead.
- War Defense: Excellent flank or wing. She punishes bad boards by coming back to life when the attacker thinks they've won.
- Rush Attack: Firing constantly allows her to ramp up the Surge Bleed to its 3000 damage cap quickly.
Advanced Strategy & Team Compositions
Leonie works best in "Attrition" or "Stall" teams. She doesn't burst enemies down; she wears them out.
Sample Team Ideas
- The "Undying" Defense: Alby - Leonie - Phorcys - Tyr - Mother North. A revive-heavy team. Just when you kill one, another brings them back, or they revive themselves.
- The Anti-Minion Squad: Grimble - Leonie - Ogima. Grimble destroys minions to charge mana, Leonie and Ogima follow up with massive hits to the exposed heroes.
Counters & Anti-Synergies
- Counters:
- Block Revive: While her passive says it can't be prevented by status ailments, certain hard-coded "Perma-Death" mechanics (if introduced) would stop her. Note: Kravekrush does NOT stop her passive.
- Lunar Heroes: Heroes that disable passives might eventually be a counter, though currently rare.
- Heavy Cleansers: Rigard, Ariel, etc., remove her bleed, neutering her threat.
- Anti-Synergy:
- Defense Buffers: Do not pair her with heroes whose main utility is Defense Up (e.g., Vivica), as she won't benefit.
Advice for New Players
If you pulled Leonie, level her immediately. Her revive mechanic is a safety net that will help you complete difficult map stages and quests even if your healers die. She is forgiving of mistakes.
Advice for Veterans
Leonie is a niche tool for you. She is not your primary raid attacker. Use her on Defense to annoy attackers or in specific War situations (Minion wars). Do not limit break her twice (LB2) unless you absolutely love the "Undying" playstyle; there are better stats to chase.
Community Corner: Hot Takes & History
The community reaction to Leonie was a mix of awe and frustration.
- "I can see it now: in the upcoming war, theyβll pair these Heroes with revive-focused toons... Iβm excited for it!" - A player anticipating the stall meta.
- "9 lives⦠yeah⦠if you have the hero, the probability will be 5% revive. If you face it at raid, the probability will be around 100%." - The classic E&P RNG skepticism.
- "She is the prize from this portal... not looking forward to facing that βnine livesβ passive on Defense."
The consensus remains: She is the ultimate "Rage Quit" generator.
Final Thoughts
Leonie is the cat that got the cream, ate it, died, and came back for seconds. While her claws might not be as sharp as the newest legendary heroes, her ability to defy death makes her timelessly useful. She turns straightforward battles into chaotic gambles, often tilting the odds in your favor simply by refusing to leave the battlefield.
Verdict: A solid, annoying, and unique hero that will age better than pure damage dealers thanks to her mechanics.
Is she worth the mats? Yes, especially if you enjoy making your war opponents throw their phones.
